The Sessional Academic Program is an opportunity to meet other sessional staff from your Faculty and engage with teaching and learning issues currently concerning your Faculty. It also provides a forum to explore different teaching and learning strategies, and learn to further master your teaching environment.

The event program also covers topics including: teaching for a diversity of learners; engaging students in tutorials and labs; managing learning and teaching; criterion referenced assessment; evaluation and reflecting on teaching.

Registration for Semester 2, 2007 must be received before Tuesday, 7 August.

* Please note that registration is a two step process which includes online registration via StaffConnect, and completion of the Session Nomination Form available below.

This program is supported by the Professional Association of Part-time Academics (PAPTA).

The following documents provide further information about this program:

1. Submit your request via Staff Connect:

  1. Enter Staff Connect via QUT Virtual
  2. From the main menu, choose "Individual", then "Training", and then "Training Requests" .
  3. Click "Add new record" to view course list
  4. Click on "TSAP", enter details in the fields provided, then submit your application via the INSERT option.
  5. Your screen view will change to PENDING TRAINING REQUEST >Success! Row Inserted (screen capture example)

If your access to StaffConnect has not yet been organised please contact your School/ Faculty for further advice.

Your nomination will be forwarded to your supervisor for approval, and then submitted to TALSS. You will receive a email from TALSS to confirm your registration. If you are unable to access Staff Connect, please submit the Session Nomination Form.

2. Submit your session nominations

  1. Fill in the Session Nomination Form, indicating the sessions you wish to attend, and email to us at teach@qut.edu.au . The Program Support Officer will then enter your details to your nominated sessions.
  2. Or send your completed session nomination form to:

* Please note that room capacities are limited for each session. To ensure your place in your preferred sessions, please complete your nomination form at your earliest convenience.

What is my Account Code for StaffConnect?

When registering in StaffConnect, you will be asked for an account code. This is a 17 - 19 digit number that is allocated by your school. Please contact your School/ Faculty Financial Officer to obtain the correct account code. (The account code will look similar to: xxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xx-xxx)

What is the QUT No Show Fee?

The standard QUT No Show fee will apply. Cancellation of registrations will be accepted no later than 3 days prior to the event. A no show fee is only applied when a registered participant does not attend the event and has not given sufficient notice of cancellation or sent a delegate in their place. The no show fee will then be charged against the account code provide in the initial registration.
