This workshop helps participants to understand the importance and place of embedded academic skills in the curriculum, and to begin to examine course/unit documents to identify and plan how embedded academic skills will support students’ learning.

Target group: all academic staff, especially those teaching first-year students

Topics covered

  • Identification of the academic skills required by students to respond to the assessment tasks set for their units
  • Discussion of strategies to scaffold the development of these skills
