These two, one-day conferences give sessional academics opportunities to develop their teaching practice and scholarship. Each conference offers two strands:
- essential skills of teaching for new sessional staff,
- workshops for more experienced staff to extend their
repertoire of teaching skills. The conferences also provide time to network with key QUT staff in the faculties and other sessional academics.

| Will additional parking be available at KG Campus on the day? |
Both street and undercover parking will be available at Kelvin Grove. Parking will be available in F Block.

| When is the cut off date for registration? |
Registration numbers need to be confirmed by Monday 4 August for catering and room allocation purposes. Please contact the Program and Events Team at teach@qut.edu.au of ext 3138 9797 (ext 89797 or 89796) for further assistance after this date. |
| While I'm registering my attendance over the phone, can I register on behalf of other academic staff with current appointments? |
Due to QUT Privacy requirements, we ask that academic staff do not register on behalf of other staff members with current appointments. Identifying personal details are required for each individual registration. Further assistance, individual staff members are asked to contact TALSS via phone - 3138-9796 (ext 89796) , 3138-9797 (ext 89797) or 3138-8626 (ext 88626) with their employee details at hand.
Faculty Administration Staff or supervisors may register new staff members who do not have current appointment or employee details. |
| I do not know who my supervisor is for approval, what happens to my request? |
With the new version of StaffConnect, Supervisor Approval is no longer required for this program. Once you have registered via StaffConnect, you details will be automatically included in the |
| I cannot access StaffConnect because I do not have my employee number yet. What do I do? |
Staff can register up until COB Monday 4 August. If you do not receive your employee number by this date, please contact the Program and Events Team at teach@qut.edu.au of ext 3138 9797 (ext 89797 or 89796) |
| I have not used StaffConnect before, where do I find it? |
Log into QUT Virtual (link located on the QUT home page under QUICK LINKS). StaffConnect (one word) is located in the main window of your profile. Screen shots of the registration process in StaffConnect is available in [PDF] format. |
| How do I register for the workshops on the day? |
A copy of the final draft problem is now available on the web site. Room allocations will be set prior to the event. Room allocation numbers will be published on the final program (which will be made available to attendees on the day). |
| If I have already received an attendance allowance from the first semester 2008 session, can I apply for the second semester allowance? |
Sessional staff are only entitled to receive the attendance allowance once a (calendar) year. |
| Do I have to attend the full day to receive the attendance allowance? |
To be eligible to receive the payment, Sessional Staff must attend the full session. Payment claim forms are not handed out to staff until the evaluation session at the end of the program. Forms must be completed and handed back into TALSS staff on the same day. Forms handed in after the date will not be accepted. |
| How long does it take to receive the attendance allowance? |
Due to the large volume of payment claim forms to process, it may take 2 weeks to complete and submit to the Payroll Office. Once your payment details have be submitted, your payment will be processed and banked into your nominated account (as per your employee details) in the next fortnightly pay cycle. The complete process cycle can be between 2-4 weeks. If you do not complete the payment claim form correctly, delays in payment process will occur. Staff who do not have a current appointment or new staff members should also expect some minor delays. Staff must have an appointment date that includes the SAP program session dates to be eligible for payment. |
