When I started my first work at university as a tutor, I didn't know where to go and what I needed. My supervisor didn't have much knowledge about the administration side of things so I had to bump around asking everywhere. Two years have passed since then, but I still come across new people having difficulties finding out what administration work is involved. |

When I got back to work after the summer vacation period, I realised my staff account expired. Nobody knew how I could renew my account. It took me a while to sort it out. It's a small thing but it limited my academic activities at uni in various ways. I hope there is a consistent support system for casual Academic staff. |

I'm working in the IT industry and I want to share my work experiences with students. I'm very busy during the day time. It would be great if the administration could support part-time academic staff within a flexible time period and more efficiently. Another practical issue to me is parking. I drive a long distance from work. If something can be done about this, it would help me to be less tired and stressed when teaching the students. |

As a mother of three, I have found that part time academic work means that I can actively pursue a career without compromising my role as a parent. With on line teaching, and the availability of an office at QUT with computer, email and printer access, I can work at home equally as well as on campus. This hasn't always been the case in the past! I feel that I have the best of both worlds. I want to help other people who hesitate to start part time academic career due to other issues by sharing my own experience. |

I used to teach many years ago, and then I moved into industry. I came back to university to pass on my industrial experiences to students. Also I hope I could help young academic staff who have just started their careers at university. |
