The QUT Blackboard online learning and teaching system enables easy, remote engagement with online content, media and communications technologies by both students and staff.

Every QUT Blackboard unit site is offers resources and tools specific to that unit.

In each site, there are a few common ways QUT Blackboard is used to assist the teaching and learning at QUT. Common activities include:

  • Access and download of unit related documents (print these documents yourself or via Flexiprint)
  • Access to the Course Materials Database (CMD) of online readings for the unit.
  • Communicate with teaching staff and other students. For example, discussion forums, chat rooms or tutorial email lists.
  • Many lecturers use the Announcements page of the site to disseminate unit related information.
  • Submit assessment items, undertake quizzes and receive feedback.
  • In some units, students have the opportunity to build their own sections of the site, which may or may not be accessible to other members of the student group. For example, wikis and blogs.

The previous online learning system known as OLT underwent a review in 2007. It was recommended that QUT commercial option (Blackboard) in 2007-2008. Full documentation of the review process can be found at OLT System Review.
