Access free academic support with a Peer Adviser

Peer Advisers, Academic Learning (PAALs) are experienced and successful students with expertise in study management, peer mentoring and specialised academic learning skills. They have a good knowledge of the resources available to you at QUT and can help with a range of study-related queries such as:

• preparing for exams and presentations
• analysing assessment tasks
• academic writing and referencing
• time and study management strategies
• concept mapping
• effective reading and note taking skills
• group work skills & strategies
• accessing other student support services at QUT

Like you, each Peer Adviser is currently studying a course at QUT and has therefore most likely come across similar challenges in their studies. It also means that at some stage throughout the week, there’s usually someone from your faculty to assist you with specific enquiries about studying in your discipline.

Where are they located?

Peer Advisers are located in all QUT Libraries, across all campuses.
They’re available Monday through to Friday on the Gardens Point, Kelvin Grove and Carseldine campuses, and only two days a week for the Law Library and Caboolture campus.
Please note that service times differ depending on the day and campus, so it’s important you check the Peer Adviser's locations and availability.

Please note:

• Bookings and appointments are unnecessary
• PAALs are not available during vacation or exam weeks
